Your Apprenticeship at SPALECK
Are you interested in technology and want to understand how mechanical parts and electronic controls work together? In the mechatronics technician apprenticeship at SPALECK, you’ll learn how to turn individual components into fully functional systems. You’ll not only assemble the mechanical components of our screening systems, but also handle the wiring and commissioning of the control systems.
As a mechatronics technician, you are responsible for ensuring that the mechanical and electronic components work together seamlessly. You assemble the electrical components and sensors in our machines. After assembly, you’ll commission the finished systems, test the software functions, and ensure that the equipment runs smoothly through regular maintenance and troubleshooting.
Here’s what you can expect during your training
To ensure our systems run precisely, you’ll start with the basics of metalworking and learn to read technical drawings and circuit diagrams. Over the course of your apprenticeship, you’ll become a well-rounded professional: You’ll learn how to wire assemblies, set up electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, and program control systems. You’ll assemble our machines from the ground up, commission them yourself, and ensure that every detail is just right when they’re shipped to our international customers.
If you combine technical skills with an interest in electrical engineering and enjoy working on complex systems that must function flawlessly—both mechanically and electronically—you’ll be a perfect fit for our team.

We train people to meet our own needs. If your performance is strong and you get along well with the team, we’re very interested in hiring you as a permanent member of our mechatronics team after you graduate.
You’ll be working directly on our screening machines and conveyor systems for the recycling industry. These aren’t assembly-line products, but rather custom projects for each client that present new technical challenges every time.
We strike a balance between the two. You’ll start by learning the basics of metalworking, but then you’ll dive deep into electrical engineering, pneumatics, and control systems. The goal is for you to be proficient in both fields by the end.
